Bergland Michigan is on the North East side of Lake Gogebic and it resides half in Gogebic County and half in Ontonagan County. Lake Gogebic is the largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, 12897.69 acres or 20.15 square miles.

Recreational Activities include:

Snowmobiling - there are 7 major trails within 3 miles of Lake Gogebic. Lake Superior which is 25 miles north of us is one of the best snow makers in the land dumping an average of 210 inches of snow each year on us. We have snow when others do not. That is why we are known as Big Snow Country. There are three places that rent sleds between Bergland and Merriweather. Timberline Sports, Bergland Snowmobile & Gogebic Sports Center.
Fishing, All Year Round - Although I am not a Fisherman I am told fishing for walleye, jumbo perch, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and whitefish can be very rewarding . Ice shack rentals are even available. Steve's Sporting Goods
Hunting - Grouse, Bear, Deer or whatever else. We run a Grouse tournament in Early October. Come join us, I will have details later as the time gets near.
Skiing, Hiking and Bicycling - None of which I am familiar with but I will try to put more info on the Site in the future if I see much interest from readers.
Pool League - April 25th is the Women's Pool Tournament
Motorcycle Riding in the UP - Well I do not ride but I should, especially living up here in the Upper Peninsula. There are many places to see and great roads to take you there. UP Cruising is a web site devoted to Motorcycle Riding in the UP.
Lodging in the Lake Gogebic Area - From Hotels, Motels, Resorts on the Lake or Private Rental Houses. Something to suit everyone's needs. At the Bay Bar we offer our 4 Bedroom Apartment above the Bar as well as our 4 Bedroom House 1 Block from the Bar.
The Bergland/Matchwood Historical Society Museum is Located on M-28 just east of The Timbers Resort.
This is an excellent picture and history tour on a motorcycle about the western UP. Seven pages long, Great pictures and lot of history.
