Trail Conditions: improving
Last 12hrs:  3-4 inches of wet stuff
Snow is on the ground, in the air and in the forecast for the next week. Temps look to remain mild but mostly below freezing. The system snow we got yesterday will go a long way to improve conditions.  If the forecast comes through we may just have our best conditions of the year.  I think it is safe to say "get your asses up here" I think this weekend is going to be good..........

A woman visited a plastic surgeon who told her about a
new procedure called 'The Knob,' where a small
knob is placed at the top of the woman's head and
could be turned to tighten up her skin and produce the
effect of a brand new face-lift. Of course, the woman
wanted 'The Knob.'
Over the course of the years, the woman tightened the knob,
and the effects were wonderful, the woman remained young
looking and vibrant.
After fifteen years, the woman returned to the surgeon with two problems. 'All these years, everything has been working just
fine.. I've had to turn the knob many times and I've
always loved the results. But now I've developed
two annoying problems: First, I have these terrible
bags under my eyes and the knob won't get rid
of them.'  The doctor looked at her closely and said, 'Those
aren't bags, those are your breasts.'

She said, 'Well, I guess there's no point in asking
about the goatee.'

I need to hold off planning a ride for March 1st.  With that much snow forecasted I may need to be at the bar.

Last 12hrs:  3-4 inches of wet stuff

Who's your buddy, Who's your pal?  3am and we got a good 3-4 inches of wet stuff.  Conditions will improve big time.  Well they will if not too many of you come up here.  So don't say anything, if we get the rest of the snow this week that is forecasted, you better get your asses up here.  The following week looks promising too.

I think I am heading out of Bergland for a few days on March 1st.  If anyone is around at that time give me a shout, I'm looking to back pack for a few days and take some pics for the web site, maybe turn it into a story. "The Sleds of Anarchy Ride"

Tom,
First off, I want to thank you for your dedication to the snowmobiling fanatics everywhere. It is always a pleasure to read your report and stop by the bar! To HELL with anyone who says different. You alone are the best source for local conditions and some refreshing truth.
With that said, I would like to thank everyone who decided to stay home this past weekend. I know the scary truth for the past few weeks has been " too much traffic, too little snow". Everyone who has been sledding the area this year has been met by pounded out trails and overloaded bars. As your reports have said, The conditions have been holding and groomers have done a fantastic job with little to work with, and best riding is early.
This past weekend was suprisingly very good! It really seems like alot of people have decided to wait for more snow. To you people, Thank you!
There is a delicate balance between conditions and traffic to keep good trails and this season has not been in balance. Somehow, things seemed to come together and my family and I enjoyed some nice riding despite the lack of snow and I even heard of a busted Gogebic Area groomer.
I don't know if you will add this to your page but I don't know how else to thank those who opted out and saved us who came!
Keep it real and we hope to see you soon!
THINK SNOW!

Just wanted to post this to let you know riders are finding decent conditions.  But don't tell anyone and by all means stay home.  Otherwise Ray will get made at me.  LOL

Thanks Ray and I am glad you and your family had a good time.

Trail Conditions: poor to OK
 Last 12hrs: warm with flurries
Some big ole flurries are coming down as I write, not nearly enough to make me happy, but there are a few.  Forecast is for 1-2 inches today and with the winds coming from the south this should be system snow. 1-4 forecasted for Friday too.  Next week is even more promising, so don't put your sleds away yet,  March may bring the best conditions this year.  As for right now, we need snow, things are rough out there, we have had the worst conditions possible all year, except for having  no snow.  Hang tight and don't give up yet, we got to be overdue for a good storm......   Thanks for all the encouraging emails.  Don't worry I'll never change. I was never meant to be Politically Correct.

GET READY.......John Dee's forecast  is looking better for the first part of March.  Even the weekend looks promising.  Next week even better.  We have a few days of warm to put up with, but there is ice on the trails and they will survive.  All we need is snow and some cold.

As for right now the conditions suck.  Best riding is in the morning and you can find some good trails out there.  But in general you are going to go through crap to get to them.  Let's all hope Mr. Dee's forecast comes true.....Stay tuned

It's early and I am waiting on John Dee's forecast before I start my report.  Thanks for the emails of support, I will continue to do what I do, too many of you have come into the Bar the and said you like  what I write.  I have only received 4 negative emails in the 5 years I have been doing this.  Probably all from the same business owner that would rather lie about conditions just to get you here to spend your money.  I have been on your end of a shity trail report when I lived in Illinois.  It is no fun when you get up here and find out conditions are not what someone told you they were.  I do not sugar coat conditions and I never will.  That is why I do my report on my own web site.  It's mine, it's mine, it's all mine, and you can't tell me what to do.  The reason I quit doing reports on other sites is because I seen what others were doing.  They would sugar coat, they wouldn't update frequently or change the report if conditions got worse.  I did not want to be associated with those sites.  So there you have it  "The UP According to Tom".  Thanks for reading everyone and thanks for a great year (so far, we are not done yet hopefully) at the bar.

Just an update on the Sleds of Anarchy shirts and Hoodies......Thanks to all of you that bought them and even donated more than the cost,  we raised $1780 for the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.  You people are the best. 95% of this money goes for helping out Ontonagon residents in need, 5% is sent out towards research.  No administrative costs are taken from this.

 Thank you all,
  Tom and Becker
I received this email earlier today annomonously:

You really are a class act? The people in your town must really appreciate the crap you put on your web site. Clean up your act. Make your mama proud and go to church this Sunday.Take a bath first, use lots of soap.Have a great day.

Here is an email I received at 3pm today:

Hi Tom,

I just wanted to say I enjoy your reports, love the honesty and the fun things you say.  We missed out sledding last year and might this year it it doesn't snow soon.  We have always just stayed over in mercer wi coming up from macomb illinois and we were hoping to finally ride in the UP.  After finding your site from john dee I look forward to getting up your way and having a cold beer and a hot beef sandwich.  I sure hope this season isn't over, I just lost my little yorkie on friday the 10th and think it would be good for me to get out of here and do some riding.  I am a retired teacher these past 2 winters and can't believe the winters have not produced the usual snow and I didn't get up there sooner.  Well again thanks for your sense of humor and your telling it the way it is.  I sure appreciate you.

Jackie:)

So not only do the people in my town love me, my mother is proud of me and I must have class, otherwise a retired school teacher like Jackie would not be reading my blog.

Sorry to bother all you good folks with this, but it is the only way for me to respond to my anonymous e-mailer.  I am sorry if I do not appeal to everyone, but I am not trying to.  It is my site that I pay for so just hit the x in the upper fucking right hand corner and don't read it.

 Last 12hrs: cold

The forecast for the next few days is positively shity.  The temp right now is only 8 deg but high of 37 for today and 41 for tomorrow.  After Wednesday things look to be cooling back down again.  We will have to wait and see if Mother Nature is going to be kind to us winter weather lovers.  Last year we received a lot of snow in March and April, but our trails were gone the first week in February.  This year there is a good ice base on the ground so if a typical March snow storm kicks in real quick we could still have the best riding ahead of us.  I am being optimistic but damn-it I still want to go for my ride.
It is Sunday so remember:

He who fart in church, sit in pew alone.

A shout out to the person that just sent me the nice email:  I really don't care if people like the "crap" I put on my report.  If you don't like my "crap" don't read it. I tell it like it is.  Sorry

PS My Mother is proud of me.

 Last 12hrs: about an inch
It snowed all day yesterday. Or at least it looked like it tried to start snowing.   All though it looked nice outside at times the grand total ended up to be about an inch, maybe 2 if you squinted.  Forecast looks like a warm up for a few days next week with chances of snow for next weekend.  There are still a lot of sleds up here. I have been sending most riders either north east towards Copper Harbor Harbor or South east towards Iron Mountain.  These seem to be the places with the best conditions.

A shout out To the IDIOT that ran up Pine St in front of my bar and jumped the bank in front of the 96 year old Ladie's house with the loud pipe on his sled and then turned left and rode down M-28 about 11pm last night.......Congratulations dude you are my fucking hero.  I bet you scared the shit out of her.  We need more people like you up here in the UP.  In fact come back around November 15 next year.  (Opening of Deer Season, when everyone is toting guns)

Date: Feb 17 2012 10am
Trail Conditions: poor to good
 Last 12hrs: mild temps
It amazes me that I have riders coming in and saying they found a lot of good trails.  Not our typical UP trails I don't think but very good considering all the adverse conditions we have faced this year. Little snow, warm temps and heavy traffic.  John Dee's forecast is starting to look very promising. All we can do at this point is hope he is right on.  A late February early March storm at this point seems too good to be true.  Stay tuned and don't put them sleds away just yet.  The best may be yet to come........ I was asked about the poker run today. Sorry but things fell apart.  Bingo's outside of Wakefield was one of our first thoughts of bars to include on the run.  The day after Mark Hanson from Timberline Sports and I were talking about putting this altogether I stopped by the Ski-doo shop and he told me Charlotte Vittone passed away.     Sorry folks but that kind of took the wind out of my sail.  I'm sure it did Mark's too because we didn't discuss it again.

A shout out to the Screaming Gynas...You girls are a lot of fun.

Thanks Jayne for the sandwiches, they were awesome as usual.

Same ole same ole.......But next week is looking up a little.  A good winter storm is possible for the week after.  Keep your fingers crossed, I'm doing everything I can on my end, I even took the plow off of my truck.

I know I'm late.  Blame Becker, I have been begging her for Valentine's Day sex all day instead of doing the report.  I finally gave up on that idea and decided to get to work.

Well same shit different day, well almost, we gained more than we lost today.  John Dee's report looks a bit interesting though.  Only an inch or 2 through the weekend, 2-5 possibly for next week, but possibly a storm brewing for the end of February.  If temps stay down and we get dumped on, I could get my March ride in.  As for now people are riding, most tell me conditions are better than they expected.

A shout out to RPM......the Dragon has been slayed

Happy Valentine's Day to all my Lady friends out there.  Stop in to get a free flower from yours truly.  My motto is to keep the Ladies happy and the guys will follow.  (That's why the Ladies bathroom is heated and the men's is not)  You probably want me to quit BS'ing and get to the report.
Well the report sucks.  High of 31 today and 36 tomorrow.  Then cooler with a slight chance of snow Thursday-ish. Cooling off after Thursday.  Conditions are still the same, we are holding our own.  You can find good trails out there but you are going to go through more bad shit to find them, I had to go to Gwinn yesterday and I was amazed at how good the grade was (trail 8) in most places.  Don't get me wrong I saw dirt (not snirt, dirt) mostly around Bruce crossing and Ewen, but get on the other side of Bruce Crossing and the grade looks real good again.

I don't think we are done riding yet by a long shot.  We still have good base in the woods, if it would only fricken snow.  We got a bunch of snow last March and I am hoping the same thing happens this year.
I'm telling Becker what the Bar needs to do is buy a new sled, find someone to ride it (no volunteers please, I'll do it) a helmet cam, and someone to do Video trail reports.  HaHaHa Do you think she'll fall for it?

Maybe I'll order a cam and rent from Marlin.  Anyone up for a trip to Copper Harbor the first week of March?

Well........the only positive thing I can say at the moment is I took off yesterday and I am well rested today.  The forecast is for low to mid 30's the next couple days, a hint of snow may be in the air starting Thursday.   Trails will survive but we need snow.

No real changes in conditions again today.  Riders are finding decent trails still.  Some are rough and some are good.  They are in better shape than they should be considering our conditions.  The forecast sucks though, we got cheated out of the 1-4 predicted for Saturday.  If the pipe on your sled is so loud I can hear you going back and forth down at the Bergland dock please don't try to come in my bar, instead go run back and forth in front of your mother's house late at night in what ever state you came from.  Please ignore this unless you are the smart ass running around with the pink mohawk. And yes, we will kick you the fuck out of Michigan.

They still have us at 70% chance of snow today.  Only 1-4 and LES at that but every inch helps at this point.  Riders are still finding good trails out there, morning riding is the best.  Heavy traffic and icy corners out there.  Slow down and be careful. A lady got thrown off her sled on the access trail coming into Bergland yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure how bad she was hurt but it was no fun waiting with her group for about an hour for the ambulance to get there.  And she was right in town, imagine how long it would take for help to arrive if you were out in the middle of no where.
Please see my message below.  Stay on the trail and slow down in town.

People we need to talk...I went and had a talk with some guys tonight (actually I was yelling)  that were racing back and forth between my bar and the Bergland dock.  There are houses right across the street.  They were jumping banks and riding in the powder south of the tracks, which is private property.  Earlier today county police were writing tickets for people just riding were these guys were racing back and forth.  Man this kind of shit not only brings the police around, it give people that do not like snowmobiling a reason to bitch.  I am not going to let a few people screw it up for the majority of the responsible riders that come up here.  I will call the police or DNR myself.  There is a time and a place for everything, and racing through our town is not the place.  We want you to have fun up here, but be smart.  Go slow in towns and stay off people's property, it is hard getting easements to use private land, but easy to loose them.  Please be smart, we do not want to lose what we have up here.

2-3 inches fell overnight with 2-3 more forecasted over the next two days.  Highs in the low 30s forecasted for next Tuesday and Wednesday.  Not the best forecast but better than we have had in a while. Conditions will be a little better but expect heavy traffic for the weekend again.  Our conditions are not that good, but they are the best around.
Warning to everyone riding into Bergland and Merriweather:  Stay off of the rail road tracks.  DNR and the Police are ticketing people.  You can not ride the tracks, stay on the trail.  And for God sakes, slow the fuck down.  Even other snowmobiliers are bitching about all the idiots going to fast in the corners.  If you get hurt out in the woods it is going to be a long time before help arrives.

Damn I sure needed that two inches.  I bet you would rather hear them words out of my mouth than from the Mrs huh?  Hopefully the snow keeps up a while, check back in the morning and I'll look through the reports.  This is only going to improve on conditions, how much will depend on the snow and how many more snowmobilers will be up here because of the snow.  I'm going out on a limb here but I think you better get your asses up here.  We are looking at doing a poker run for Presidents Day weekend.  And if by chance you are here on Valentine's Day you can bring the Mrs in for a free Carnation from the BBB.

Cold temps at night, today and tomorrow around 30 deg. Best chance at snow is tomorrow and Friday.  I would say it has really been a messed up winter, but at least we have been fortunate to have enough snow to ride in the western UP.  You'll find access trails into towns very dirty or bare in places.  Out in the woods there is a lot more snow, north to Copper Harbor is much better.  Riding south east to Iron River is still good the last I heard.  If you need a place to park and ride this weekend you can park in the lot across the street form the bar.  But you must park to the left (south) of the fire hydrant.  Please do not put me in jeopardy of loosing my snowmobile parking across the street.

Well we had riders in complaining  about trails today,  I told them they need to read my report.  With the temps we have had, traffic we had and low on snow the trails are not going to be good.  Don't come if you are expecting what are trails normally would be.  At this point we are lucky to have what we do.  The groomers are out knocking down the bumps but it will take a few days to get em flat again.  By the looks of the sleds in tonight I expect a busy weekend again.  Stay south of Lake Superior, they have a lot less snow up there.
A shout out to Team Chilly Willy......How did you get your name? I bet it was from walking home when those old sleds you guys are riding broke down out in the woods.  Christ I heard one of you pull starting that old Polaris for about 20 pulls before it finally fired. Sure brought back memories of my 91 Indy 650.

Colder temps have arrived.  Yippie.   For the next week or so the cold is here, this will help out a lot.  Out the window I can count the snow flakes as they fall, 182 have come down in the last hour.  Not much but it is a start I guess.  John Dee is calling for 1-4 this weekend, lets hope it is closer to 4.  We don't have great conditions out there but there is still a lot of trails in pretty good shape.  Traffic has slowed down big time.  Get ready we have to be due for a good dumping on.

Well things are looking up a bit.  Colder temps are moving in.  Not a lot in the way of snow but the cold will help the groomers flatten things out.  A little snow is in the forecast for tomorrow and again possibly for the weekend.   We survived the thaw and we have a good base so a little snow and cold will get us right back in shape.   See ya all soon.
I  know it has been 35 hours since my last report.  In that time I worked, watched the Superbowl, got drunk, went to the casino, fell down about 4 times (according to Becker) and won some money.

Another day and a half of this and then cold with a possibility of snow?  Damn someone pinch me to make sure I am not dreaming.  Next weeks forecast looks positively promising.  Tune in tomorrow for hopefully a positive and uplifting report from yours truly, until then if you are here now sled towards Iron River for a positively delightful ride....
And please God let the Giants win with a score ending in 1-3.  (3 for the Giants) Or just so the score end at 1-3.

People are riding,  conditions are not the best.  But they are riding.  Another day and a half and then cold hopefully.  The trails are better than you'd expect under these conditions.  ( And I am not saying that because some asshole told me to be more positive)  If you happen to be up here head towards Sidnaw and go south ( i think it is trail 107) I was told tonight it was great.  Head towards Iron River.......These are less traveled trails, and today they were still in very good shape according to a rider I talked to in the bar.  Thanks Mike A shout out to the Milledgeville boys....The Rottweiler is a medium to large size breed of domestic dog that originated in Rottweil, Germany. LOL

I hope you guys made it home OK tonight.  You're great guys.  But WTF is with the guy in the thong?  He kept playing with my leg under the bar at the Hoop n Hollar.

PS None of you better tell Becker I stopped at the Hoop on the way home.  I told her I was tiered and going to bed.

Greetings from beautiful downtown Bergland.  10deg right now and sunny.  2 &1/2 more days of this crap before it turns cold again.  The dancing snowmen are not doing their thing.  But there is a chance of snow starting Monday.  So say your prayers, go to church tomorrow and hope for a good 8 inches on Monday.  For now best riding conditions-in the morning, best drinking conditions-tonight at The Bay Bar.  Stop in and get an Italian Beef-voted best sandwich in the UP by Bay Bar customers........

I just looked at John Dee's report.  It says "No forecast today"  he must of got yelled at for not being positive too.  LOL  Sorry folks but I have nothing good to report.  I wish I could fast forward to Monday and see what next week brings.  Hang tight we still have a base.  We just need cold and snow.  Desperate times call for desperate measures so here is what I need everyone to do.  There is a Snow God called  Heikki_Lunta. Check out the link. The part Wikipedia left out was it works best if the dance is done with no clothes on preferably in front of the web cam at the Bergland Bay Bar.  Mooning and flashing also effect snowfall.  Bigger boobs = more accumulation. When flashing is done in twosomes and threesomes expect 2x and 3x the accumulation. You know I tell the truth, do you think I would actually steer you wrong on this one?

I guess I should add on a positive note, people are still up riding and you always have the Lake.  Our trails aren't too bad considering the conditions of temp, not much snow and heavy traffic.  The Bergland access trail I am sure is worn out.
Maybe I should take a hint from Jerry Springer and get some Bay Bar Beads to pass out.

Trails are great, it has been snowing for 3 days now and it is supposed to keep snowing until mid July.  All the food and beer at the bar is free and I have female and male escorts waiting for you to fulfill your every need.  Oh and I have a Brand new snowmobile of your choice waiting for each and every one of you with life time gas cards free of charge.  You can stay and our house and never go home, just sit by the fire pit in the back yard and drink beer all summer long, waiting until next snowmobile season rolls around again. How is that for being fucking positive!

Temps in the mid 30's through the weekend.  Most riders are happy that we have the snow left that we have.  Some even reporting they found good trails all day.  Morning riding is the best, that's when trails are the stiffest.  Later in the day they just get soft.  Kind of like morning wood huh?  Still a lot of sleds up and I am expecting a busy weekend.  Just don't come up expecting normal conditions for the UP, riders  reporting good to excellent trails are comparing our trails to theirs back home.  Sorry folks but we are the only game in town, no one else has snow and everyone and their brother is up here.  I have talked to people from all over.  They are even coming down from Canada.  Business has been great and Becker and I thank all of you for stopping by, I got cold beer and hot beef waiting.

The Radar Run is in front of Gogebic Lodge this weekend.  If they have a bikini run I may just dress up (in a tutu) and get my 650 Indy out of the garage. (yea it has loud pipes, but there is a time and a place for everything)

I just received this in an email with no return address: "could you please be a little more positve on your web updates...Always so negative about trails and future snow fall. we just love to ride even if trails are a little bumpy.."

I'm not sure who sent it but I'm sorry, I write what I am told by riders.  I don't sugar coat my reports, besides anyone with a computer can look up forecasts for themselves and see.  Don't blame me, blame God for the shitty forecasts.

 Last 12hrs: warm
Temperatures for the week are creeping up.  34s and 36s out there for the rest of the week.  Not Good.  Trails are not going to get any better at this time.  Let's give it a few days and hope for a strong north wind.  Don't fret the base will hold.  I got an email to try the dancing snowmen again.  Hell I'll try anything at this point.  Well almost anything

Trail Conditions: Ride able?
 Last 12hrs:

The ride is in the eye of the beholder.   Conditions are not good, if you are used to the way are trails usually are this time of year, don't come up.  You will be sadly disappointed.   Oddly enough more than a few groups are saying conditions are not to bad considering.  It all depends on your expectations.  North towards Copper Harbor has more snow.   We are holding our own, we lost snowt today and  I didn't see what the temp got to, but it had to be 40-44 degrees.  There were groups that said they found good trails, especially in the morning hours.  The rest of the week is supposed to be mild but cooler than today.  You'll be able to ride from Bergland, but don't expect real good conditions.
I know you are expecting out of my smart ass comments here, But I am tired and I am going to bed.  So leave me alone and go fuck with Ryan D in the cell below.

 Last 12hrs:

How about 38 degrees for the last day of January?  When I don't like it either but we will be fine.  It will give the groomers a day off maybe.  Night time temps are low 20s  to so they will probably be going out at night.  Mild temps for the next few day and we still have a fair amount of riders here.  So far it looks like early next week cold and LES may be setting in again.
A shout out to Ryan D, the boys wish you were here, so do the Playboy Bunnies that were up here at the Bay Bar Sledding this week.  I had a hell of a time getting them to cover up their tits though.  Good thing you were not here.

PS How's work
Date: Jan 30th 2012 10am
Trail Conditions: good
Last 12hrs: a dusting and cold

Holly crap 8 degrees at 10am.  Tuesday high 30's then lox 30's for the rest of the week.  Looking at John Dee's site it looks like it will be quiet snow wise for the next week.  I think trail conditions will depend on the amount of traffic this week.  Although low 30's is not ideal temps are cold at night. No to little snow elsewhere has brought the UP much traffic, including more than a few people I have talk to that have never been to the UP before.  My prediction for trail conditions this week is going to be decent in most areas and rough in heavily traveled ones.
After Presidents weekend and into March traffic slows down considerably here.  If snow and cold hold up, plan a trip for later in the year.
Date: Jan 29th 2012 7pm
Trail Conditions: good/bad
Last 12hrs: a few more inches

I know, I know.  I'm late.  I been busy with broken water pipes, kitchen lights going out, no sleep, a few assholes, need I go on......I know all you guys want from me is cold beer, hot beefs and my smartass remarks on my report here.   So I'll quit whining and get down to business.

The trails suck........Well not all of them, the groomers have been busy but with all the traffic, warm temps and not much snow to work with  they get pretty tore up.  Some of the groups that took my advice and rode towards Iron River and south of Kenton have found very good conditions.  This weeks temps don't look so good either.  But then again if it keeps a lot of sleds away it may not be too bad.  I'll keep an eye on weather reports, talk to riders and see what John Dee has to say tomorrow and let you all know.  We have a good base and the warm up this next week is not going to kill the trails.  Hand tight and I'll tell you when to get your asses back up here.
Sorry I haven't gotten back to anyone that wanted me to mail them out shirts and Hoodies.  I will do that this week.  I hope you enjoyed the jokes, I laughed my ass off at them.

We had the awards at the bar for Russ's Bait Shop's fishing tournament today.  I had a couple of groups walk out because we didn't walk over to the table and wait on them.  Sorry folks but I am just a bar.  I do not have waitresses.  We wait on tables when we can.  So unless you want me to put on a skirt and charge $3 a beer if we are busy you may have to come up to the bar to get a drink at times.
Date: Jan 28th 2012 11 am
Trail Conditions: not to bad
 Last 12hrs: 1-2 inches
1-2 inches of wet snow dropped yesterday and we have LES moving in today and tonight with colder temps.  Next week is looking like temps in the low 30's for a high.  Riders are finding a lot of nice trails but heavily traveled areas get roughed up with the mild temps.

Sorry about not cooking during the day yesterday.  I had lighting issues in the kitchen,  but 2 trips to the hardware store and a lot of cussing later I got everything under control..  They beef's are back on.

OK here are most of the jokes that were sent in.  Some I couldn't post, and you guys know why.  I was going to let you guys vote, then I was going to have my bartenders vote, but then I decided to just pick my favorite.  It was a hard decision I loved a lot of them but I am picking #10 His and Her Diary.  Congrat Matt Klug.  Are you coming up or do I need to mail the Hoodie.  Email me and let me know what size.  Click here to view the jokes.  Thanks everyone that sent me jokes.  A special thanks for those that turned them into Bergland Bay Bar jokes.

Trail Conditions: not to  good
 Last 12hrs: warm

Trails will not be to good today, warm weather for another day and lots of sleds.  But tomorrow and Sunday the LES is supposed to kick in.  A couple of days of cold and then warmer temps again.  Mother Nature sure is messing with us this year.  Gotta run, I'll try to get the jokes on line later today

Date: Jan 26th 2012 11 am
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs: warm

28 degrees and sunny here at my kitchen table.  WTF But don't fret, another day and a half of warmer weather and then cold and snowy.  You can tell the women if they come to the UP you'll show them between 4-8 inches this weekend and you won't be lying.  Just remember if it is LES there will be shrinkage.  Expect heavy traffic though.  No snow elsewhere has made us a snowmobile magnet.  Riders are finding a lot of good trails, but heavily traveled trails get roughed up quick.  Warm and traffic takes it toll.

Date: Jan 26th 2012 midnight
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs: warm

A high of 36 tomorrow and the 32 on Friday. Then cold and snow starting Saturday.  Riders said trails were in pretty good shape today.  Sorry but I'm tired and going to bed.  I been staring at this stupid screen putting all the damn jokes together.  Well at least the ones I could put on the website.  I'll dig into the weather reports in the morning.

Date: Jan 25th 2012 midnight
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs:
Riders reporting rough trails out there.  Warm weather and deeper snow will do that.  Also quite a few riders out for a Tuesday.  Wednesday and Thursday look to be on the warm side then temps dipping back down for the weekend.  That should help the groomers smooth things out.  But expect heavy traffic for the weekend.  I can see it building already.  Try riding some of the less popular trails like south of Sidnaw and Kenton.  Or head towards Iron River, these I'm told are very good.  13 going to Rockland and 8 going to Wakefield have sucked all year.  Riders tell me all the time they can tell where Gogebic stops grooming.  Or ride the trails around Lake Gogebic.  Most folks use the Lake and the trails see a lot less traffic.
A shout out to the asshole that took the Piston Bully poster from the men's bathroom. I hope your boyfriend takes a picture of you wacking-off to it and sends it to me.  I would love to post that picture on here.

Attention Minnesota people.  The beer distributer is out of Mich Golden Lite.  Sorry guys I'm trying my best to get some in before the weekend.

Just want to say thanks to Cody and Scott.  The change I gave them back after buying Hoodies, they gave back and said to donate it to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.  This wasn't the first time this happened, 4  others did the same but my dumbass didn't think of getting their names.  Thanks guys, and thank all of you that purchased shirts from us, your donations are greatly appreciated.   I will make sure the extra money gets to them.

Date: Jan 24th 2012 11am
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs: 6-8+
Probably a good 8 inches fell around the Lake Gogebic area.  Hard to tell with LES.  Temps look to head into the mid 30's Wednesday and Thursday then dip back down going into the weekend.  Looks like good conditions for the upcoming weekend.
Date: Jan 24th 2012 4am
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs: 6-8+
We probably got about 3-4 inches of wet heavy first then another 4+ of Lake effect on top of it so far.  Don't look at my web cam now, you guys will all start sprouting woodies......

Date: Jan 23th 2012 10a

GOOD MORNING SNOWMOBILE FANS!  Damn I took a day off and slept.  Sorry If anyone came into the bar hungry yesterday but I had to crash, sorry my women don't cook.  They only look pretty and take money......Sound familiar?

I awoke this morning to a few inches.   Of snow, and looking at the weather we have more coming.  6-10 more actually for tonight and tomorrow.  Then a little warm up going into Thursday and Friday.  Looks like the making for a great week of snowmobiling.  SO I guess I'll say it again....What the hell are you waiting for, get your asses up here.........see ya soon

I
Date: Jan 22th 2012 3pm
Trail Conditions: good but rough in places.
 Last 12hrs: A warm up

I know I'm late.  Sorry but I had a few issues today.  Check out the web cam, The SledHead24/7 are here.  Don't be surprised if you see them sporting a Sleds of Anarchy Hoodie around town.  I'm going to email them and find out if they are actually doing a show on the UP.

What a busy day we had yesterday.  Thanks to all that were in.  You guys  Rock.  I think I was the only asshole in the place.  What a great bunch of people.

Looks like a warm up is headed our way for the coming week.  Don't worry we have a good base.  Snow is in the forecast too.  Riders were saying the trails were very icy during the cold snap, but warmer weather and more snow will soften them up a bit.  Wait till tomorrow morning and we'll see what  John Dee's forecast is.
Thanks for all the joke responses.  Damnit now I have something else to do......Keep them coming, maybe I'll post them online and let you guys vote for your favorite.

Date: Jan 21th 2012 noon
Trail Conditions: very good
 Last 12hrs: A dusting

Sorry for the late report but I slept in and forgot my computer at the bar.  I came down early to do the report but I had people waiting to get in.  SO I said the hell with you people at home and I took care of those that are up here first.  Now on with the report........According to John Dee it looks like Monday night for some snow.  Cold temps have the trails frozen in, riders are reporting very good conditions.  I had one group that said they sucked, sorry but I'm not sure where they were riding.  Our Groomers around Lake Gogebic are the best, and it shows in our trails. If you see them in the Bar buy them a beer, they appreciate it.
We were dead at 9pm last night, probably because of the cold temps.  I thought you Minnesota people were tough.  NO CAPTAINS for you.......Don't forget the Hoodie contest.  Send me some jokes.
Date: Jan 20th 2012 9am
Trail Conditions: very good
 Last 12hrs: -16 deg

I think Hell froze over.  The thermometer says -20 here in Beautiful Uptown Merriweather.  (I live by the Hoop n Hollar)  An inch or 2 a day in the forecast for the next few days with warmer temps in the 20's.  Expect heavy traffic for the weekend and rough in heavy traffic areas.  13 going into Rockland and 8 out of Wakefield have been not too good according to riders.  I am told going towards Iron River and riding south from Kenton is a good ride.  But keep this between us.
It is getting harder for me to come up with Bullshit for you guys to read on here so I got an Idea.  The best joke I get from now till midnight next Thursday will receive a Sleds of Anarchy Sweatshirt.    I'll mail it if you are not coming up again this year.  Send your jokes to tom@berglandbaybar.com

Date: Jan 19th 2012 9am
Trail Conditions: good
Last 12hrs: -4 deg an inch or so

Pretty damn cold outside.  Chance of another 1-4 inches of snow coming again too.  Riders are reporting trails are in pretty good shape too.  Silver City area is getting a little better finally but they could still use more snow.  With cold temps the next couple of days the trails should set up nicely.  Only problem I can see is heavy traffic.  Not that too many sleds is a problem for us, come on in.  I'll have hot beef and cold beer waiting for you.

If we stay this busy and you guys keep me running my ass of like this I'll be able to see my pecker within another week.

I had enough requests to get the Bar on Facebook so I made up a page you can comment and upload pics to.  www.facebook.com/berglandbaybar
Date: Jan 18th 2012 10am
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 12hrs: cold

Fricken cold the next 3 days.  With snow in the forecast.  Not a lot but a couple inches a day.  This will make for better conditions, getting dumped on and heavy traffic causes ruts and bumps.  A few inches a day and cold temps will set up the trails nicely.  Traffic is increasing, by the weekend it will be nuts again. Ka-ching Ka-ching, we love you guys, thanks for the business.  By today trails should be in very good condition.  I will report back later tonight.  Come on in and welcome our new bartender Lorelei.

PLEASE stay on the trails and off of the highways.  Stupidity brings police, police scare people away, no people makes Tom unhappy.

Why are you sitting at home reading this?  You should be here, the snow is coming down and we already have 4-6 on the ground.  All I can say is get your asses up here, more snow is coming tomorrow.
Stay on the trail or stay home.  Too many people complaining about people riding sleds where they shouldn't be.

Got a lot of requests for Facebook so We are there. Post your favorite pics and comments.  I talked to a few riders today and conditions seem to be a lot better.  The trails were traveled heavily the last week.  Groomers have been out John Dee has snow in the forecast for us Wednesday and Thursday.  The weekend is going to be busy.  I think our house is open from Thursday on.
Just to clarify my comments below, I think it was very nice of the police to send a message out to people to knock it off. It was a warning about people complaining to police about snowmobilers riding where they did not belong.   There are a lot of dumbasses out there.  I see them all the time racing through town, jumping over the bank across the street from my bar and jumping on the rail road tracks.  (you should see what happens when carbides hit R/R tracks)

The shirts and Hoodies are selling like hot cakes.  I need to get some more ordered.

Well I was on a mission to get drunk yesterday and I did.  I put a hurting on the Crystal Head bottle.  And now it's putting a hurting on me.  I met a young man named Brian who was up this last week and I asked him to send me a report after riding today, so here is B-man's report and a pic og him at Lake of the Clouds in one of our new Hoodies............B-Man here now... If you guys and girls wanna snowmobile, well I tell you what!! You better get yo butts up here! Some trails are the greatest and some are the worst !! Better than any other state !! But here and there are few bumps. And that's where Dean lost his kidneys on those god darn flippin bumps on trail 8, well if you've seen his kidneys you let Tommy the man know. Oh just for your information kids!! B-Man here drank Tommy out of the greatest hot chocolate.. Lake Gogebic is not the best but it could be worse. A guy hit a bump and rolled his sled. Wasn't hurt but his back doesn't feel good.. So you guys and girls need to watch your speed and what your doing.. Trail 13 sucks.. Going through rockland has a lot of rocks. When turning on the edges is really icy. Going through silver city is the worst.. Rode the whole trail through silver city on dirt.. But when getting closer to porcupine mountains is really good and beautiful.. If your coming up its worth it.... But let it snow...
B-man at Lake of the Clouds
I heard the State Police stopped stopped by a couple of businesses and asked that they relay a message to snowmobilers.   Please stay on the trails and off of private property.   I have heard more than a few of the locals complaing also about sleds going by their house on the highways too.  One fucking idiot even jumped the bank across from the Mobile and rode in the cemetery.  Stupid stunts like these only ruin it for snowmobilers.  Riding the highway will get your ass a well deserved ticket.  You can not ride the ditches in Michigan.  Stay on the trails or stay home.

Wow what a day.  I didn't think there were that many snowmobilers in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois combined.   Yesterday was the busiest day I ever had at the bar. Lots of traffic.  Which means the trails get pretty tore up.  General comments were lots of good and lots of bad in heavily traveled areas.  Wakefield to Bergland was a mess.  Traffic should lighten and groomers will be back out.  Temps are cold for the next few days so conditions will improve.
Thanks all of you for stopping by.  We sold a lot of Sleds of Anarchy shirts too.  I'm going to be the leader of a snowmobile Gang in the UP.
Date: Jan 14th 2012 10am
Trail Conditions: good-very Good
 Last 24hrs: flurries

What can I say today....We got snow, and now we got cold.  The trails should be setting up nicely.  Be careful on the corners I heard they are pretty icy.  Heavy traffic will take it's toll on the trails in areas, there are a lot of people up here. It's hard to judge how much snow actually fell, a lot of it was LES.  The forecast for the next week shows some snow with temps continuing to remain below freezing.  Things look good for the rest of January, so pack your bags and plan your trips.
Beef and burgers all day long yesterday.  You guys tried eating me out of food.  B-man drank me out of hot chocolate.  Thanks for the business everyone, we had a great day with a lot of great people.  I'm not sure where the assholes are hanging out, it sure hasn't been at the Bay Bar.  You guys are great.   We got some of the Sleds of Anarchy shirts and Hoodies in.  Becker is going to go get more today.

Date: Jan 13th 2012 9:30am
Trail Conditions: good
Last 24hrs: at least a foot

If you were up here in a cabin and you looked out the window and said "honey I have a good 12 inches for you", you wouldn't be lying.  We got a bunch and it's still coming down.  It will take the groomers a while to get things in shape, but with deeper snow comes deeper moguls.   So be patient and the groomers will get er done.  Temps for the next week are looking to be more normal (COLD).  My predictions for the next couple of weeks is fantastic.  See ya soon........
Our new shirts will be in later today if Becker can make it to Ironwood to pick them up.  Hoodies and hats won't be done until next week.  Cost of the shirts is $15 of which $3 per shirt is going to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.

OK everyone out there praying for snow knock it off,  this shit ain't funny anymore.  We got dumped on, I told you to get your asses up here,  and now you may not be able to make it.  I'll be back on in the morning with an update. Hey Miller!  If this don't make you happy nothing will.

And Bret even though I don't have a dress code at the bar I'm not sure pajamas are appropriate.

Lake effect is now kicking in.  It is only going to get better.
Date: Jan 12th 2012 9:00am
Trail Conditions: good
 Last 24hrs: 2+ inches

We didn't get what I hoped for overnight.  Looks to be only a couple of inches so far.  But it is heavy system snow and not lake effect.  This is a lot better for building base.  To early to tell about how much snow our surrounding areas received, I'll let you know later today after I talk to riders.  It is still snowing now and we have a weather advisory out until 1pm Friday.  Local weather is calling for 3-7 inches of LES snow today. It is going to be a good weekend, see ya soon.....

Those of you looking at my report will realize I tend to down grade my reports more than most people do up here.  I do not sugar coat my reports.  Conditions are going to be great this weekend but trails may take their toll with heavy traffic.  Expect a heavy traffic weekend.
Date: Jan 11th 2012 10:00pm
Trail Conditions: Improving as we spreak
Last 24hrs: 1 inch and snowing

It's beginning to look a lot like winter.  A steady wet snow is a falling.  All weather reports I look at are calling for 12+ inches over the next 3 days.  Looks like it is time to tell you guys and gals to get your asses back up here again.  It's snowtime.......

I will update again in the morning.  Hopefully bitching because I have to go in a hour early to plow.  Hopefully it will snow so much I can piss and moan for 2 hours.
Date: Jan 11th 2012 6:00am
Trail Conditions: fair at best
 Last 24hrs: warm
OK I'm back.   Had to take a day off, I had a cold starting that was kicking my ass.  Hopefully a trip to the doc and Wal-Mart Pharmacy has me on the mend. Not much happened weather wise the last couple of days, but hopefully that is going to change shortly here.  By the looks of the weather reports we have snow coming starting tonight and into tomorrow.  Later this afternoon temps will be falling and winds changing and blowing from the north.  That's a good indication that Lake Superior will be kicking in some lake effect.  All indications are for a cold snowy weekend.  Get em ready boys and girls.  12+ inches could be on the way to to your favorite snowmobile destination.

Getting a lot of calls, I know everyone is chomping at the bit ready to come.  Wednesday through the weekend looks promising with cold and snow on the way.  Keep your fingers and toes crossed, I sure am.  People are still riding, there is snow out on the trails.  Groomers won't be going out until it gets colder and we get more snow.  Conditions tomorrow are not going to be any better.  Tune in Wednesday for hopefully a snowy, chilling report from yours truly.

Sorry about the late report, Becker and I went to Watersmeet last night, got drunk and lost a bunch of money.

Date: Jan 8th 2012 11am

Last 24hrs: cooler but no new snow
A lot less traffic yesterday in the bar and on the trails.  You damn Minnesota people drank me out of captains. Guess I better lighten up on the Vikings jokes.  Speaking of jokes this weather sucks.  Warm the next two days but then it looks like snow and cold are coming in Starting Wednesday.  The trails need snow and cold, from what I hear from riders they are ok in the mornings but kidney busters by afternoon.  I wouldn't advise coming up but that don't seem to matter, lots of you come anyway.  And we appreciate you stopping by to see us.  Wait till tomorrow when we see John Dee's forecast to plan your trips.
Date: Jan 7th 2012 11am
Trail Conditions: probably fair

Bar is packed trails are packed it was nuts yesterday.  I can't believe how many people were out riding yesterday.  Conditions weren't too good but I guess people just want to ride.  We did pick up an inch of snow last night so maybe the dancing snowman worked.  Maybe if I put 2 of them up there it will snow some more. I gotta go finish cleaning the bar, think snow and cold. We got a new shirt idea with the help of some sledders.  I'll probably be selling them over the internet. I'll let you know when they are available
Date: Jan 6th 2012 11am
Trail Conditions: Not good
 Last 24hrs: warmer
This shit sucks big time.  One more day of warmth then 2 days of cooling then a couple more days of warm......Looks like about a week of  messed up weather for us.  Conditions are not going to be good but we will survive.  We have a good base and will recover, unlike last year when we didn't have a decent base to start with.  So for the next week be good to your loved ones, polish your sleds and rest your livers.  I'll let you know when it's time to pack your bags and get you asses back up here.  I'm trying everything I can, even put the dancing snowman up Randy sent me doing the snow dance. I sure hope Mathew woke up in time this morning to leave.

Thanks for the sandwiches Jayne, they were great as always.

I would just like to say thank you for all the kind words I receive in the bar about doing the trail report.  All of you coming in and telling me you read this is what keeps me writing this bullshit everyday.  Speaking of bullshit....warmer temps today and tomorrow.  We got base so the trails will survive, milder temps for the near future but snow is likely 1-2 weeks out according to John Dee.  Riders reporting good around the Lake and some not so good elsewhere. Warmer temps are going to loosen the trails, but there is a hint of 1-2 inches Saturday and Sunday.  In general riders are reporting pretty good conditions overall, just not what you guys are used to in the UP for this time of year.  If you expect perfection don't come up, if you want fairly decent conditions and a good time then by all means pack your bags, but I would probably wait till the weekend.  I have openings in our 2 bedroom house - $120 a night for 4

Warmer Thursday and Friday and then cooling back down for the weekend.   But so far riders are saying the trails are holding up pretty good.  2 days of above freezing is going to soften them up some, but we should get through just fine.  First we don't have snow, then we don't have cold.  What's next?  Am I going to run out of cold beer and hot Italian beef?

Trails are still in good shape around the Lake Gogebic area.  North by Silver City and Ontonagon not so good.  Warmer temps are in the forecast.  Hopefully the wind will blow from another direction and change the forecast.  I'll jump on later tonight and let you know what riders are saying.

Baby It's cold outside.  Not much in snow for the forecast for the next week.  The cold will set up the trails nicely.  Not much more I can say today.  Got cold, got snow, need snowmobiliers.  Got to go meet the beer truck.  You guys tried drinking me out of beer, I was down to 5 bottles of Coors Lite and 4 cases of Bush lite.   Nice try, better luck next time.  Just a word to the wise, the UP is not full of 24 hr gas stations or pumps that take credit cards after hours, so plan your trip wisely.  And if someone gets out of bed after midnight to give you a couple gallons of gas, give him more than $7 for it.  And don't call us retarded for not having 24 hrs gas stations, you're the dumb ass that was out of gas.

Damnit  I wish this snow would stop and all these fricken people would go away.....Opps sorry wrong chat box.

Hey we got snow.  Lots of it.  Forecast is1-4 today but I think an inch has fallen since I started writing the report today.  I'm not sure on totals around the area, snow has been falling all around the UP though.  Groomers are going out and conditions should be great in all directions.  It also looks like temps are going to be very cold which will freeze in all the wet snow we received yesterday.  We should have a good base that will last long into 2012.  Hopefully we will be seeing you guys and gals way into March this year.  The hell with the economy and saving for for retirement and your kids future, come to the Bay Bar and spend your money.  Lisa, Kristie , Becker and I will make sure you have a good time.
Just a shout out to my parking lot bank jumper I yelled at last night.......I hope you woke up in time this morning to go snowmobiling.

WTF....I go to bed and the snow quits.  Forecast is still calling for more snow.  It will take them a while to groom but after that you should see a big improvement.  Cold temps the next few days will set the trails up nicely too.  Becker's nephew caught the fish in the pic 1 day ago on Lake Gogebic.  The small Walleye on the left is 15".

Just a quick shout out to all of you that came in over the last week.  Thank you very much we really appreciate your business.  I just hope we don't run out of beer before Tuesday.

The forecast looks promising still but I have my doubts.  We just keep getting missed.  Oddly enough riders are saying the trails aren't bad.  13 north to Rockland is in need of snow and 3 north out of Bruce Crossing I am told really sucks.   One rider told me to stay 5 miles south of Lake Superior because of lake of snow.  Lots of sleds around.  I guess when you are the only place with snow people are just glad to be riding.  This is a shout out to you Fucking assholes with the loud pipes.  Please quit cracking your throttles through town.  Your stupidity is going to bring the cops.

Buy your permits before jumping on your sleds.  Word has it the Conservation Department has ticketed some riders on their way to buy permits.

Trail Conditions: Good
 Last 8hrs: Flurries and cold.
Snow skipped by us last night but we do have some falling from the sky as I write.  This weekend's forecast looks great with 8-16 inches possible.  Rider's overall are reporting good conditions.  Some areas like Silver City and Bruce Crossing are still very thin on snow.  Hopefully that will change in a day or so.  This weekend and next week's outlook are very promising.  Head on up, it's SNOW time. Sorry but the Drag race we were trying to put together on the north end of the Lake has been cancelled due to the DNR not getting back to us about the permit.  The radar run by Gogebic Lodge on Feb 4th is still on though.

Trail Conditions: fair to Good
 Last 8hrs: Flurries and cold.
Very favorable reports from riders yesterday.  In fact some said conditions were very good.  Two guys from Wisconsin said our trails were as good as Wisconsin's trails on their best day.  I bet I make some enemies there, but all I am doing is repeating what I was told.  A couple of inches around the area dropped yesterday, it was wide spread and all areas up here need snow.  The guys staying with me rode to Houghton and said they had good conditions all the way up.  Snow and cold continue to be likely according to the forecast for the next week or so.  If you had my web cam book marked you'll need to change the address by going through my web site and re-bookmarking it.  Good news is I have a lot more bandwidth on Cable instead of At&t.  Use Fire Fox or Safari as a browser to avoid Windows 7 Security issues.
Date: Dec 27th 2011 5pm
Trail Conditions: fair to OK
Last 8hrs: an inch or more since 10:30am
A couple of inches is making a difference already.  Forest and logging roads I am told are in real good shape.  It is still spotty where you will run into bad conditions but with snow on the way conditions are improving quickly.

Trail Conditions: fair to poor
Last 8hrs: colder and flurries so far
.John Dee's forecast looks even better today.  No big storms but chances for snow look real good for this weekend and the week beyond.  I get asked about the Lake being safe alot.  It should be...but with that said use caution and ask the locals before you venture out there.  Little snow has helped freeze up the lake without having the sub zero temps we are used to seeing this time of the year.  I wouldn't stop to piss or have a smoke out in the middle as of yet.  Follow the tracks and don't stop and you should be fine.  Look out for heaves also.
Date: Dec 26th 2011
Trail Conditions: fair to poor
 Last 8hrs: warm winds
Hope is on the way.......John Dee's forecast looks promising.  10-16 inches possible in the next week?  That's being optimistic but it looks good on his web site, lets just hope it comes through.  Even if we get a part of that it would gratefully improve our conditions.   Stay tuned, good times are coming.........

Merry Christmas everyone.  We received a whole inch over night, and flurries are coming down as I write this.  We have a decent base that is froze down good so all we need is a good dumping on.  Keep your fingers and toes crossed, Becker and I are. I

No change my friends.  Looks like we are at a stalemate with the snow.  The only good things I can say are temps are below freezing for the most part so the Lake is making ice, and we are not loosing what we have on the ground.
Date: Dec 22nd 2011
Trail Conditions: fair to poor
Last 8hrs: a hint of flurries
I talked with one group that was in yesterday and they said some areas were real good while others have not been groomed yet.  They came down from Krupp's Resort in Twin Lakes.  We have a few hints of snow over the next 2 days, keep your fingers crossed.
Date: Dec 21th 2011
Trail Conditions: fair to poor
Last 8hrs: flurries and mild temps
I have been sitting here for 2 days wondering how I could write something positive.  After reading John Dee's forecast the temps are to stay below freezing, so we will keep what we have and the Lake and wet spots should continue to improve.  Not what everyone wants to hear I'm sure.
Date: Dec 19th 2011 3:00pm
Trail Conditions: fair to poor
Last 8hrs: flurries and mild temps
Had a few riders in over the weekend.  Comments were shit to not too bad.  It is all a matter of what you expect I guess.  Wet spots are freezing up for the most part. We have mild temp but still below freezing for the most part.  The Lake Gogebic Chamber of Commerce is trying to put a Radar Run together in February  in front of Gogebic Lodge.  Contact Gogebic Lodge or The Lake Gogebic Chamber for more details.

I am working with Skip Shultz on putting a Masters Racing Circuit Drag Race together for Jan 21st or 22nd on Bergland Bay by the Bergland Dock.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate for us.

 Last 8hrs: flurries and cold
Below zero this morning, that should help freeze up wet spots out there. Riders yesterday said trails were a lot better but still in need of more snow. Some hints of snow next week before Christmas, let's hope they're wrong and we get hit with a big one.
Date: Dec 16th 2011 12:15pm
Trail Conditions: Ridable?
 Last 8hrs: 5-6+
Forecast for temps looks pretty good but not great for the week ahead.  Highs around 30 and teens or single digits at night.  Hints of some snow but nothing major in the near future.  I will let you know what riders say as the weekend progresses.
Date: Dec 15th 2011 11:15pm
Trail Conditions: Just improved about 1000%
 Last 8hrs: 5-6+
What a difference a few hours make.  Check out the web cam.  Trails still need more snow and cold temps but we got a good dumping on.  More snow in the forecast too.  Even had a group of sleds in tonight, they came from Bessmer and said the trails were shit.  But by the time they had 2 beers and headed back they probably had 3+ more inches to ride home on.  Hopefully their ride back was only kind of shitty.  We'll see what tomorrow brings, hopefully it only gets better from here.........
Date: Dec 15th 2011 2pm
Trail Conditions: Need more snow and more cold
 Last 24hrs: Snow/rain mix
Very slowly but hopefully surely we are building a base.  The wet snows we have been getting and colder temps in the forecast will set up a good base.  Although the Lake and wet lands in the woods need cold to continue freezing.  I'm getting a lot of calls about Dec 26th week and all I can say is it looks a lot better than it did last week.  I'm sure I will have sleds in this weekend and I'll let you know what the riders say.  I would not advise coming up yet, but I know some will, but that gives me good info to pass on.
Date: Dec 14th 2011

Last 24hrs: about an inch of wet snow so far
WTF the minute I give up on God, Mother Nature and everything good and pure in the UP it starts to snow.  Waking up this morning I looked out the window to see white stuff falling from the sky.  I haven't even made coffee yet, I just got off of John Dee's site and the forecast looks promising.  Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted.
Date: Dec 13th 2011
Trail Conditions: Need snow and cold
 Last 24hrs: warm and foggy
On a positive note......The sun hasn't been out.  Nothing good I can say about the weather.  All we can do at this point is wait and see.  Things are not looking to promising for Dec 26th when I know a lot of you will be heading up.  I'll probably get into trouble for saying that this early.  But don't give up  hope yet, conditions can change quickly up here.  I am going to take a break for a couple of days unless we get a change in conditions.  See ya soon
Date: Dec 12th 2011 10am
Trail Conditions: Need snow and cold
 Last 24hrs: It sucked too
John Dee has snow forecasted for us next week.  This week only has trace amounts in the forecasts, but colder temps settling back in.  What do you all say to going to church this Sunday and making a healthy donation to the Great Snow God in the sky.  Anyone has a better idea please let me know.  Seriously though, what we have on the ground will hold up for the most part, the woods will keep even better, cold is coming at the end of the week and next week looks promising.  Hopefully we will be ready for the week after Christmas.
Date: Dec 11th 2011 9am

All I can say is Awe Shit.  I must of really pissed off Mother Nature.  Warmer temps for the next few days with not to much hope for snow.
Date: Dec 10th 2011 10am
Trail Conditions: a few riding
 Last 24hrs: flurries
38 degrees forecasted here for tomorrow.  That's not a bad thing though.  Warm up the snow and then freeze it back down.  It will help the Lake and trails hopefully.  But the big story is we need it to snow.
Date: Dec 9th 2011 1pm
Trail Conditions: need snow
 Last 24hrs: flurries
First time I get to say this, this season.........Riders reported ........yep that's right, I had 2 groups of riders in yesterday. They said there were a lot of wet spots on the trails and they are in need of snow.  But they were riding. I wouldn't advise it yet. Forecast doesn't look to promising for the next week, weather underground is calling for snow but John Dee's site says no.  Let's hope Mr Dee is wrong.  This time anyway.  I'm getting calls at the bar about conditions a week from now, sorry but if I could predict the future I would be playing the lottery, not bartending.  Believe it or not I want snow worse than all of you.  Hang tight it's coming.
Date: Dec 8th 2011 10am
Trail Conditions: need snow
 Last 24hrs: flurries
Ah..........Not sure what to say here.  Mother Nature is not cooperating.  Chances for snow in the week ahead are not looking to favorable right now.   Good news is the Lake is freezing and so are the wet spots out on the trails.  There are a few ice shacks out in the bay and the Walleye are biting.  Stay tuned..........
Date: Dec 5th 2011 10am
Trail Conditions:
 Last 24hrs: another inch
I was mistaken when I reported 5-6 inches yesterday.  It was more like 8-10 and I heard 12+ in some places.  Although this looks like a very good start what most people don't realize is we need cold weather right now more than snow.  The snow tends to insulate the ground (or water) underneath it.  This makes it harder for the Lake to make ice.  Also a lot of our trails go over wet lands that need to freeze up solid too.  But it is what it is and we are on our way to hopefully a great season.  The groomers will be out soon I'm sure.  We have below freezing temps forecasted for the next week so the snow is her to stay.  See ya soon......
Date: Dec 4th 2011
Trail Conditions: a good start
Last 24hrs: 5-6 inches of wet heavy snow
Looking out the kitchen window it looks like at least 5-6 inches of wet and heavy white stuff out there.  The forecast for the week ahead has below freezing temps forecasted for highs.  Winter came late to the Lake Gogebic area but hopefully we are in for a long hard one.  Winter that is.
Date: Dec 3rd 2011
Trail Conditions: Need snow and cold
Last 24hrs: flurries but snow on the way
Cold, windy and the Lake is starting to freeze over.  Snow is in the forecast according to John Dee's website for this weekend and next.  The groomers are itching to get out there and start so hang tight, it's just like the little doggie said before the farmer chopped off his tail "IT WONT BE LONG NOW"
Date: Dec 1st 2011
Trail Conditions: Need snow and cold
 Last 24hrs: about an inch
Well happy trails everyone.  Hopefully soon they will be happy anyway.  This is the start of Becker and my 5th snowmobile season owning the bar.  Sad to say it is the first time in 5 years the trails were not ready to ride December 1st. To most of you that doesn't matter, after Christmas is when most riders come.  But I like it better when I see a few sleds and groomers going past the bar. John Dee's forecast is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the North Woods.  Temps are getting colder and snow is in the forecast the end of this week and late next week.  Stay tuned to this station ........we'll be sledding before you know it.
Date: Nov 27th 2011
Trail Conditions: Need a freeze
 Last 24hrs: Flurries
Little hints of snow in the forecast.  But colder temps look like they are on the way.  We need a deep freeze more than snow right now. Trails do not look good for December 1 opening.  Stay tuned though, things change quickly up here.
Date: Nov 20th 2011
Trail Conditions: Getting Snow, need cold
 Last 24hrs: 10+ inches
We been getting snow, another 10-12 inches dropped in the last day.  Now we need a deep freeze.  So far the coming week does not look to promising.  Temps towards the end of the week are in the 40's.  But check out the web cam, I'm sure that I will have at least 1 sled in today..............
Date: Nov 18th 2011
Trail Conditions: improving
 Last 24hrs: 6-8 inches
Better start working on the sleds.  We got 6-8 inches overnight.  I took the brothers sled out for a run down the street. Sparks and rubber were flying but it was fun. Hopefully he wont read this.   I sold our 4 bedroom house this summer. The guy that bought it has remodeled it and added a second bath upstairs.  Nettie from Maple Ridge Motel is managing it, so give her a call at 906-575-3545 to book it.  The price will be a little higher but well worth the cost.   They did a nice job.
The Chamber of Commerce is possibly having a radar run on the Lake this February.   I will have details when I find out more.  Jayne tell the boys I may need help getting the 91 Indy ready.
Stay on the trail when you come into Bergland for gas.  Do not go on the Highways.

If you need a place to park your trailer and ride when in our area you can park in the lot across from the bar.  What I ask is Park as far left and back as you can.  And do not park to the Right of the fire hydrant.  Don't worry about sleds parked in front of you.  If they are in your way when you are ready to leave I will have them move.  I have never refused anyone from parking there and I have never taken money from those that offered it too me.
