Doing fine in Bergland

Weather: Rain early then clearing up.

Trail Conditions: Fun

For those of you wondering how I am doing, I’m doing just fine this morning.  I put my symptoms in Yahoo Health and seen some interesting things.

1. Panic Disorder – Well it all started when I miss place and envelope full of $20 bills for the ATM.

2. Heart Attack – Well although I am not physically fit, I didn’t have the neck or shoulder pain.

3. Pregnancy Care – Does Becker telling me to go F#@! myself count? This could be it.

4. Acute Mountain Sickness – Something hikers and Skiers get, again not physically fit probably rules this out.

I think 4 more dealt with pregnancy and a few with diabetes.  At any rate I am doing fine and will be back at work today.  Ginger from Antonios stepped in to Bartend and Kristie came into work the rest of the night for me.  Thank you both so much.

My plan of action is this, I booked a flight to Mexico this afternoon.  In the morning I am going to sneak back over the boarder.  Then I will be able to go get checked out and find out what is going on with me with the best healthcare our Government can afford.

Went for the atv ride yesterday from Bergland

Weather: High 70’s and Sunny today

Trail Conditions: Muddy but fun

We took off yesterday for a ride with Miller and went up to the Pit Stop in Greenland.  A lady named Janice emailed me and said they bulldozed the lower half of the P trail leaving Bergland so we decided to give it a try. All I can say is WOW, what a blast.  The first 4 miles of the P north of Bergland is very wet, I see why the USFS wants to move the trail.  There is a lot of mud and water running down from the hills.  When traveling through there take it easy and try not to tear up the trails, spinning the tires (ALTHOUGH IT MAY BE FUN) will only make the mud holes deeper.  Milage wise I think the Pitstop was around 50 miles from Bergland going up the P, then taking Norwich rd down to the VC trail then into Rockland for a “pee” stop then on to Greenland via the C and G trail I think.  Coming back when we hit Norwich rd we went south to the SB and came into Bergland with milage around 40 miles.  We left at 11 am and got back around 6pm, we only stopped a few times, 4 miles north on the P, at Henrys for 1 drink and a pee, at the Pitstop to eat and again at the Norwich while headed back.  Once again I failed to take pictures, something about being out there having fun I guess I just forget about all of you at home.  So I guess you will just have to come up here and see it for yourself.

PS Guess what Miller forgot his wallet again, Thank you Holly for a nice lunch at the Pitstop.

A Joke for today

Weather: High 60’s and partly cloudy

Trail Conditions: HERE WE COME

Off for a ride with Holly and Miller today.  Come on Helmut, you know Dee wants to go to.  We are leaving at 11.  Gonna try making it to Greenland, I heard they fixed the first part of the P trail, I think maybe we will try it.

I need to go get ready, Becker’s Grandson Ross is going with me.  Paul sent me a nice joke to use today so enjoy and I’ll talk to you later.

A farmer drove to a neighbor’s farmhouse and knocked at the door.
A boy, about 9, opened the door.
“Is your dad or mom home?” said the farmer.
“No, they went to town.”
“How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?”
“No, he went with Mom and Dad.”
The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, mumbling to himself, when the young boy say’s, “I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give Dad a message.”
“Well,” said the farmer uncomfortably, “No, I really want to talk to your Dad, about your brother Howard getting my daughter Suzy pregnant”.
The boy thought for a moment…then say’s, “you’ll have to talk to my Dad about that. I know he charges $500 for the bulls and $150 for the pigs, but I have no idea how much he charges for Howard.”

Jokes like this I will not post

OK I asked for jokes, I need to have jokes that are appropriate for me to post. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can I post things like this, I have an image to uphold you know.

OMG is there anything the Incredible Hulk can not do?

A crappy Tuesday in Bergland is better than a nice day else where

Weather: Shitty today, crappy tomorrow, Nice Thursday

Trail Conditions: Dust is wet

Mild up here the next few days.  I can handle 60’s, hopefully the mosquitos can’t.  Actually they have calmed down a lot.  Yesterday they were not bad until night time.  I guess the rain woke them all up.  Going on an atv ride with Holly and that damn Miller, hopefully Helmut and Dee from White Pine will join us.  If anyone is around we will be leaving the bar at 11:00 am EST tomorrow.  I have to state EST because Miller is from some other time zone.  Hopefully this way he will not get confused and forget his wallet like he usually does.

Tomorrow should be a good day for a ride, we are going to try to get up to the Pit Stop to see Jim.

I am running out of places to find jokes, email me your favorite so I can post it. ( that is if I can post it )

Back to Normal in Bergland

Weather: Into the 80’s

Trail Conditions: Dusty

In the 80’s today and for the most part a pretty damn good forecast for the rest of the week.  But they have been way off on their forecast so who really knows for sure.

I am trying to postpone our ride till Wednesday, just haven’t gotten ahold of Miller yet.  Maybe he will read this and give me a call.

I was asked this weekend why I don’t have a fishing report, and I have been thinking about how I could do one.  I haven’t come up with a way though.  You see I don’t fish, nor do I really care for fish.  I don’t know it for a fact but I think when the fish are biting the fishermen are out on the Lake and don’t come into the bar.  I get fishermen when the fishing sucks, weather sucks or the people fishing just don’t care or they are just not serious fishermen.  So you see most of my reports would be very negative.  If I find a good way to do one I will but for now I am at a loss.

Little Johnny asks his mother how old she is. Her reply is, “Gentlemen don’t ask ladies that question.” Johnny then asks his mother how much she weighs. Again the mother’s reply is, “Gentlemen don’t ask ladies that question.” The boy then asks, “Why did daddy leave you?” To this, the mother says, “you shouldn’t ask that” and then sends him to his room. On the way to his room, the boy trips over his mother’s purse. When he picks it up, her driver’s license falls out. The boy looks it over and goes back to his mother saying, “I know all about you now. You are 36 years old, weigh 127 pounds and daddy left you because you got an ‘F’ in sex!!!”

The weekend is over

Weather: Rain Today Yippeeee

Trail Conditions: Not dusty

Not sure what is going on today, I imagine most people will be headed back home today.  There were a lot of people in town over the weekend but there were a lot of parties going on at people houses and down on the Lake.  So back to normal this week I guess.

I think we may be taking an atv ride on Tuesday, hopefully.  I think we are going to try and ride up to the Pit Stop in Greenland.  Let me know if you are in the area and want to tag along.

Sexual Exhaustion

A high school English teacher reminds her class of tomorrow’s final exam. She also tells them that there will be no excuse for failing to show up, except for serious injury, illness, or a death in the student’s immediate family. A smart-ass jock in the back of the room pipes up and asks the teacher out loud, “What about extreme sexual exhaustion?”  The entire class has all it can do keep from breaking up, being barely able to stifle its laughter and snickering.  When silence is restored, the teacher smiles sympathetically at the student, shakes her head, and sweetly says, “You can write with your other hand then.”

Update from Mi-Trale

Tom, thanks for the note.

The P trail took a beating the last few years and the past winter only made it worse. We requested and have funding to repair both ends of the trail this year. The problem now has been to locate contractors. We have had grading done on your end from the trail head to Russell Creek (about 3.4 miles). So the west end(Bergland to Norwich) is safe for now. The hole you were at is next. We had hoped to get to it last week, but need to wait for final approval from Plum Creek(land owner). I visited the area with the Plum Creek senior forester last week and he agreed that it needs to be corrected, but wanted to wait until August when it would be drier. I have since gotten back to him (last Wednesday) to see if we can use the same contractor that we used at the west end to at least make it passable, and then clean it up in August. I plan on following up with him on Monday.

The gate is closed. After the visit with Plum Creek, he locked the gate and I did not have anything with me to mow a path around it. I will get out there next week to cut a path and place some signs up.

For now I would suggest that you have your guests take the Pioneer to Norwich, then take the Victoria cutoff to Old Victoria, and pick up the Pioneer there. I hope to get this section fixed soon.

Some added information for you. We have requested and received approval to have a complete ground inventory completed by MTU of the Pioneer trail system with a report of what has to be done to remediate it and then maintain it using a 1, 3, and 5 year cycle. Also we should be moved over to the new section of trail out of Bergland next year, or in 2016. This will take us out of the low wet area and move us up on the ridge, We are waiting for the logging to be completed and the road work to be finalized. Finally, Plum Creek has provided us with a verbal approval to use the snowmobile trail out of Old Victoria toward Rockland. We need to submit a written request with the requested route for final approval. This will remove a portion of the black top that we now use.

Hope this helps you get caught up on these trails. Yes you can get to Greenland. The trail goes to Firesteel Road. If Jim wants to get them to his place, he will have to get the business signage up to direct the riders to the location.

Thanks

Donald Helsel

Sunny today

Weather: Nice today

Trail Conditions: Stay off P trail (I am still waiting for word from Mi-Trale)

I hope everyone had a good 4th.  I was actually in bed by 10pm.  What a party pooper.  The cardboard boat races are at the Hoop tomorrow at 2 pm, hopefully the forecast will change and they will have nice weather.

I am still waiting for word from Mi-Trale to find out the status of the P trail.  The mud holes are one thing but it looks to me like they have it gated off where the VC trail intersects with it.  As soon as I get any info I will let you know.

I have a shout out to my buddy up in Greenland, Becker owns a Mustang convertible, buying a Corvette is not going to get you anywhere

Pearly Gates

Three guys died and when they got to the pearly gates, St. Peter met them there. St. Peter said, “I know that you guys are forgiven because you’re here. Before I let you into Heaven, I have to ask you something. You have to have a car in Heaven  because Heaven is so big, what kind of car you get will depend on your answer.” The first guy walks up and Peter asks the first guy, “How long were you married?”  The first guy says, “24 years.”  “Did you ever cheat on your wife?”, Peter asked. The guy said, “Yeah, 7 times…but you said I was forgiven.” Peter said, “yeah, but that’s not too good. Here’s a Pinto to drive.” The second guy walks up and gets the same question from Peter. The second guy said, “I was married for 41 years and cheated on her once, but that was our first year and we really worked it out good.” Peter said, “I’m pleased to hear that, here’s a Lincoln.”  The 3rd guy walked up and said, “Peter, I know what you’re going to ask. I was married for 63 years and didn’t even look at another woman! I  treated my wife like a queen!” Peter said, “That’s what I like to hear. Here’s a Jaguar!” A few days later, the 2 guys with the Lincoln and the Pinto saw the guy with the Jaguar crying on the golden sidewalk. When they asked the guy with the Jaguar what was wrong, he said, “I just saw my wife, she was on a skateboard!”

FIREWORKS TONIGHT

Weather: Supposed to be nice for a few days

Trail Conditions: Stay off P trail (unless you like mud)

Fireworks tonight in Wakefield.  Bessemer’s is probably tomorrow.  Both have excellent displays.  But I think tomorrow we will stay in Bergland and watch them here.  I didn’t but any this year, I am going to do it on New Years Eve again at the bar.

Not much more going on around town.  I got the wash machine going last night and I am going to start working on the dryer today.  I hate plumbing.

A man was riding a bus, minding his own business, when the gorgeous woman next to him started to breast-feed her baby.

The baby wouldn’t take it, so she said, “Come on sweetie, eat it all up or I’ll have to give it to this nice man next to us.”

Five minutes later, the baby was still not feeding, so she said, “Come on, honey. Take it or I’ll give it to this nice man here.”

A few minutes later, the anxious man blurted out, “Come on kid.  Make up your mind!  I was supposed to get off four stops ago!
